VECTOR Monthly Training Meeting
We try to host a Training Meeting the third Wednesday of every month (19:00 hrs at E-Comm). However, it would not be much of a meeting if no one shows up. E-mails will be sent to the membership notifying everyone of upcoming topics. This link will be updated with this schedule as well. Please contact the Training Coordinator to sign-up for each topic as they are made available ro click the "Register" links below. If we do not reach the minimum numbers of attendees, the session will be canceled.
Feb 15: Observations on the Feb 2011 Christchurch Earthquake

At 12:51pm on Feb 22nd, 2011, New Zealand's second-largest city was struck by a M 6.3 earthquake. The earthquake was centred approximately 10 km from the downtown core and followed a smaller earthquake on boxing day two months earlier and a larger M 7.1 earthquake in Sept 2010. The City's downtown core received significant damage and large residential areas were also hit hard. Since February, Christhchurch has been subjected to thousands of aftershocks, several quite large.

Daniel Stevens, the City of Vancouver's Manager of Emergency Planning was deployed to Christchurch with a small team of Vancouver staff to assist in the Christhchurch EOC and learn from the response and recovery efforts underway.

This presentation will cover Daniel's observations during his month-long deployment to Christchurch. This is a great presentation and all VECTOR members would benefit from seeing it!
